ORLANDO WAS FINALIST IN THE 23RD MAX AWARDS FOR BEST THEATRICAL VERSION OR ADAPTATION
WINNER OF THE 21ST NATIONAL COMPETITION FOR STAGE DIRECTORS IN TORREJÓN DE ARDOZ IN 2018

17th century England. Orlando is a young noble whose curiosity and passion for literature lead him to have multiple adventures: he is lover of Elizabeth I, stops aging, falls in love with a Russian princess, flees from Constantinople… But in order to complete his story and finish writing his poem 'The Oak Tree' he will have to face his greatest challenge: one morning he wakes up as a woman…In this masterpiece full of comedy and critical spirit, Virgina Woolf raises issues of gender, identity, existence, love, beauty and social conventions.
What would it be like to live this life? Orlando is a literary jewel: an adventure through European history and culture; an ode to beauty, to imagination and to life; a voyage that invites us to write our own story through the lens of happiness and amazement.
Versions of the text have been made for theatre, or for film adaptations, in many countries. In Spain, Teatro Defondo is the first company to adapt the text for the stage.
