The story of Lázaro’s life, which is used to dramatise the Spanish Golden Age, shows us how destiny takes the main character, a scoundrel who has suffered misfortunes since his birth, from one master to another. This adaptation maintains the essence and social criticism of the original text, and transmits with humour and irony a clear and transparent reflection of society of that period.
In the course of its 25-years of work, Pata Teatro has obtained numerous awards and acknowledgements. Its shows are programmed in all the theatre circuits and networks in Spain. With its shows the company has succeeded in creating a special identity, in which language and humour are blended to address social issues that reflect the human condition.
The objective of this first festival, co-organised by the Malaga City and Provincial Councils, aims to disseminate pre-20th century theatrical heritage, with a special focus on Spain’s Golden Age, in the city and the province of Malaga. By combining theatrical performances with film screenings and training, the festival also seeks to foster encounters with professionals of the sector and to enhance the value and comprehension of classical theater. Each show is geared at a specific audience, including all audiences, young people and adults.
