Don Quijote nómada is an adaptation of the classic novel with an innovative format. The author himself, don Miguel de Cervantes, will be the master of ceremonies of the show, which mixes puppet theatre with live cinema. An innovative proposal in which the classic formula of travelling comedians blends with contemporary aesthetics and techniques.
The characters, made of paper, step out of the book as if Cervantes’ dream had come to life. Five cameras placed around the sets will film the different points of view that are arranged in real time to narrate this renovated version of the most classic of all classics. The company bricAbrac Teatro was founded in Seville in 2005 in order to express, to speak, to be listened to and to share a different vision of the world. Its shows, which have been recognized with numerous prizes in Spain, stem from the tenacious work, perseverance and specialisation of its members in assuming different roles to ensure that its projects are the result of fully handcrafted work. All of them assign great importance to the comedy’s tone and to social criticism, capable of awakening in spectators their most critical and human feelings.

The objective of this first festival, co-organised by the Malaga City and Provincial Councils, aims to disseminate pre-20th century theatrical heritage, with a special focus on Spain’s Golden Age, in the city and the province of Malaga. By combining theatrical performances with film screenings and training, the festival also seeks to foster encounters with professionals of the sector and to enhance the value and comprehension of classical theater. Each show is geared at a specific audience, including all audiences, young people and adults.
