Phaedra, the queen of Volcano Island, is ill: she doesn’t eat, speak or sleep. The doctors are unable to find the cause of her illness and the entire country is very worried about her state of health. Some say she has gone mad. Others believe that the prolonged absences of her husband, the king of the island, have completely devastated and ravaged her heart; but no one knows the truth, and they are all mistaken. Phaedra is tormented by an immoral and immodest eroticism, a violent and untameable desire, a captive and indecent love.
