Women’s football was born in England at the time of WWI. Teams formed by the female workers of textile and ammunition factories became legendary, rapidly winning the attention and affection of the public and provoking hostile reactions on the part of football’s masculine institutions. After the war, many of these teams were forced by law to disband, following several years of incredible success. This is the story of one of these teams.
