With this new show, José Luis Gómez restores the real nature of the Cantar de Mio Cid.
This anonymous poem , of oral tradition, narrates in three songs the feats of Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar in the 11th century. Placed right in front of the audience, the minstrel leads the latter on a course of unexpected  events he claims as his,  adapting them to the relationship he establishes with the spectators. As the minstrel seeks to win them over, depending on their reactions the poem’s physiognomy may be altered, the tempo accelerated or slowed down, the role of some character modified, some elements omitted or others highlighted.
With extraordinary work of minstrelsy, placing body and voice at the service of the seminal words of Spanish literature and voicing the sounds of our medieval language, Cantar de Mio Cid comes on stage.
