Salvador Brotons is an excellent musician with extraordinary training received from the admired Xavier Monsalvatge, instrumental experience as a flutist and the creative conviction that the avant-garde must be integrated with tradition, searching for tonal centres, chromatism, enharmonic mysteries and polyrhythms as stimuli for composition.

With the musical material of his ballet The Fire Bird, Stravinsky composed three suites for orchestra in 1911, 1919 and 1945, the last one shortly after having obtained his American nationality. It is the one with the richest instrumentation, pointing to the magnificence of the timbre of the ballet The Rite of Spring composed two years later.
