The Sinfonia Concertante for violin and orchestra, Op. 87, by composer and bass player from Murcia Miguel Franco, was commissioned by the foundation of a well-known financial entity of the Region of Murcia in 2007 on occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished sculptor of religious images Francisco Salzillo. Strictly speaking, it is a programmatic composition about five Holy Friday processional floats made by said sculptor.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem is one of the paradigmatic works in the history of music, and is the best example of the composer’s creativity in the field of religious music. Each one of its passages expresses extraordinary feelings of love, emotion, tenderness and piety, far from any unwarranted theatrical form or effect. Even though in his Requiem Mozart respected all liturgical requirements, this work transcends all the limitations of ritual as a very personal act of faith of someone on the threshold of eternity. Left unfinished, it was completed by his friend and disciple Franz Xaver Süssmayr in 1792.
