Once again the revolutionary Niño de Elche has turned flamenco upside down with his new album of 27 pieces that reinvent the genre’s different palos, or styles. In Antología del cante flamenco heterodoxo saetas, fandangos, seguiriyas, tanguillos, farrucas, tanguillos, malagueñas… turn into a sonorous jigsaw puzzle with the spell of electronics, the insolence of rock and the personality of a singer-songwriter’s lyrics.
Niño de Elche is in his own right the great renovator of flamenco. This new work takes over from Voces del extremo (2015), album that placed him in the spotlight as album of the year for media such as Rockdelux, El País and Radio 3. Multidisciplinary singer-songwriter, in his varied artistic proposals Niño de Elche has combined disciplines such as flamenco, electronics, literature, performance, phonetic poetry and contemporary music.
“He has one of the most solid discourses and one the best minds one could imagine on a wooden platform”. Fernando Neira. El País
