If jazz is something similar to a dynasty of great voices, one of its most noteworthy members is without any doubt Dianne Reeves. The veteran vocalist from Detroit is one of the genre’s great names, outstanding heiress of Sarah Vaughan and Betty Carter. In addition to a career with more than thirty albums, including both studio recordings and compilations, what is particularly noteworthy about Carter is the impact of her work, acclaimed by the public, critics and the industry. Beautiful life (2015), one of her last albums, was awarded a Grammy for the way in which she brought Bob Marley, Fleetwood Mac and Marvin Gaye classics to the sphere of jazz, in collaboration with Esperanza Spalding, Richard Bona, Gregory Porter, Robert Glasper and her cousin George Duke, with excellent results. She also won the Jazz Legends Award at the Monterrey Festival in 2018. As one of the greatest, her mere presence commands respect.
