They say that going back to your origins is not going backwards, and remembering the past is not necessarily staying still; instead, it can entail a voyage back in time to places which you left behind at one point in time. And it can be the occasion to rediscover and feed on all the elements that form part of your identity and are an important part of who you were and who you probably still are.
This is Adrian Santana’s point of departure in this new production. The dancer and choreographer decided to return to the neighbourhood where many generations of his family grew up and which was the cradle of many illustrious artists of the history of flamenco, including Pepita Durán, La Repompa, La Paula, Juan Breva, Pepito Vargas, El Chino and El Piyayo.
In this new project Adrian Santana will be accompanied by artists who belong to families from the Perchel, such as La Repompa and El Carrete, on a journey through the history of this well-known fishermen’s neighbourhood of Malaga.
